Eco Friendly Saturday Supplement Idea
My idea for the Saturday Supplement shoot is a Christmas gift guide around the theme of sustainability/ eco friendly gifts or decoration.
Climate Change has snowballed in the past year thanks to groups like Extinction Rebellion and Greta Thunberg constantly making sure that it never goes out of the media; everywhere you go online there's articles about the best ways to make changes in your life to tackle climate change.
Christmas is one, if not the most wasteful holiday around the world, toys and gifts wrapped in single use plastic, the greed of people buying gifts such as plastic toys that children will use a few times then get bored of, wrapping paper being coated in plastic meaning that you can't actually recycle any of it; 2019 Christmas may be one that looks different.
More and more people have started to look at ways to cut down plastic / go zero waste, one of the most popular solutions is handmade 100% natural soap and make up remover pads, they're extremely easy to make and buy.
100% cotton flannels are also a big thing in eco friendly minds, I make them myself and already have a few friends who want me to make them for Christmas as gifts for themselves.
With this in mind I was planning on making eco friendly gifts such as the make up remover pads and flannels to then create a gift guide with them or I would make eco friendly decorations again to promote being better to the planet.
Just having a quick google you can see how much of a popular topic it was years before and now how it's exploded.
